The list of winners of the competition will be announced on the opening day of Eurasia Packaging Istanbul Fair on October 21, 2020. ASD President Mr. Zeki Sarıbekir said, "The design of a package is just as valuable as the product it contains. It is of critical importance in relation to consumer preferences. We have confidence in and fully support the vision of our young designers”.
The finalist projects of the 16th Packaging Design National Student Competition 2020, organized by the Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD) in collaboration with Eurasia Packaging Istanbul Fair have been revealed. 101 student projects from Graphic and Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, Industrial Products Design and Industrial Design Departments of 17 different universities applied to the competition, which was organized to ensure that students studying design in Turkey also consider packaging design. The Selection Committee meeting comprising 11 jury members was held online on July 8-9, 2020. After a rigorous evaluation, 17 projects qualified for the finals. Top three projects, honorary mention and certificate awards will be announced on the opening day of Eurasia Packaging Istanbul Fair on October 21, 2020.
AN OPPORTUNITY FOR REPRESENTING TURKEY IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS
Bringing together Turkey's leading packaging manufacturers, ASD gives students the opportunity to reflect their dreams on their designs through this competition. ASD President Zeki Sarıbekir emphasized that creativity and imagination are at the forefront of packaging design: "The design of a package is as important as the product in it and adds value to the product. Young people applying to our competition from various universities are focusing on their goals and are working to achieve their dreams. Students who succeed in our competition are also entitled to receive scholarships for 12 months a year over the course of their study. They are able to take part in WorldStar Student, organized by WPO -World Packaging Organization- and AsiaStar, organized by APF -Asia Packaging Organization-, where they compete again for a world-wide win. The projects that won the 15th Packaging Design National Student Competition 2019 we organized last year had the chance to take part in AsiaStar and WorldStar Student competitions as well. One of our student projects entitled to compete at WorldStar Student came 3rd on a world scale and won a bronze award. We believe our students will return from the international competitions with success once again this year. As our students succeed, the perception of the Turkish packaging industry on a global scale will be strengthened”.
SCHOLARSHIP TO TOP THREE WINNERS
The ranking of the students winning the competition will be announced on October 21, 2020 at the opening of Eurasia Packaging Istanbul Fair. The first will be awarded 6,000 TL, the second will be awarded 4,000 TL and the third will be awarded 3,000 TL. The three students receiving honorary mention will be awarded 1,500 TL. In addition to the money award, top three winners will be entitled to receive free ASD & TÜYAP Educational Scholarship for 12 months a year throughout the duration of their study and their projects will be displayed in a specially prepared area throughout the exhibition.
