Eurasia Packaging Fair, the 22 nd of which was organised with the cooperation of Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD) and REED TÜYAP, was conducted in Istanbul TUYAP Fair and Convention Centre on 2 nd and 5 th (Wednesday to Saturday) of November. 1.114 companies from 45 different countries participated in the fair this year and the total number of visitors increased by 10 % up to 56 thousand in comparison with last year. Same success rate was observed also in the number of foreign visitors in the fair. Number of foreign investors coming from 94 different countries, increased by 20 % compared to last year and reached up to 6 thousand. Number of domestic visitors increased by 8 % and reached approximately to 50 thousand. Hereby, Packaging Sector of Turkey surpassed the packaging fairs of competitor countries with the increase in growth rate of visitors.
Eurasia Packaging Fair organized in cooperation of ASD and REED TÜYAP Fair and supported by the other associations of the sector as; Packaging Machinery Association (AMD), Label Manufacturers Association (ESD), Carton Board Packaging Manufacturers Association (KASAD), Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association (MASD), Corrugated Board Packaging Manufacturers Association (OMÜD) and Rigid Plastic Packaging Manufacturers Association (SEPA) brought thousands of manufacturers and innovative packaging solutions from all over the world in TUYAP Fair and Convention Centre together.
Packaging Sector of Turkey, which continues to gain new markets despite the uncertainties in the global economy, is one of the rare sectors realizing productions with added value in our country. In the fair of the sector that has a high competitive capacity and potential, 6 thousand qualified visitors, procurement committees and nearly 1000 qualified top rank procurer from Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Sahara, Central and Western Europe, Balkans, Russia and Caucasia met with the visitors.
It is expected that the Eurasia Packaging Fair will accelerate the packaging sector in a time when the global competitiveness has gained a critical importance, with the possibilities it provides for the development of new business opportunities from the new markets for the participants and the visitors. Therefore this year in the fair a serious preparation was carried out with the goal "direct access to the correct customer”. Sales and marketing team of the fair contacted with the new companies that had not existed in the portfolios of companies of sector and these new companies also attended to the fair.
Packaging Printing Technologies Special Section printpack, which came forth within the framework of Eurasia Packaging Fair, brought the packaging-printing sector together again this year. The fair, which was attended by not only Printing Technologies but also by Corrugated Case-Paper-Carton Packaging Manufacturer companies in 2016, united the packaging-printing sector with its target masses with its extended scope. Furthermore there was the Drinktech, Beverages and Liquid Food Technologies Special Section as well.
Youth Grafting in Design: National Packaging Design Student Competition
Award Ceremony for National Packaging Design Student Competition the 12 th of which was organized this year with the cooperation of ASD and REED TÜYAP was conducted during the fair. Finalists sharing the first three ranks became entitled to receive respectively, 5 thousand TL, 3 thousand TL and 2 Thousand TL in the competition that was organized to achieve the aim of providing the students of design in Turkey to field of packaging design and contributing to development of a sector with international competitive capacity. Three students receiving honarable mentions entitled with a monetary award of TL 1000 each. Designers sharing the first three ranks have been granted with a 12 months-scholarship annually during their academic lives. Projects of the finalists with a rank in the competitions were exhibited in the fair.
