Turkey Receives 22 Awards From WorldStar 2019

Turkey received 22 awards in the
WorldStar 2019 Competition organized by World Packaging Organization
(WPO). With this result, Turkey is the second country that received the
highest number of awards.
Organized by World Packaging Organization (WPO) and one of the most prestigious competitions in the industry, WorldStar 2019 announced the results. Turkey received 22 awards in WorldStar 2019, where 33 countries competed in 12 categories, where a total of 319 applications were submitted. The three countries with the highest number of awards were Japan with 26 awards, Turkey with 22 awards and China with 21 awards. The President's Award, Sustainability Award, Marketing Award and Save Food Packaging Award, which all are the special awards of the competition will soon be announced. Companies who win awards will receive them at the awards ceremony which will take place in Prague, the capital city of Czechia on May 15, 2019.
TURKEY'S RISE CONTINUES
Zeki Sarıbekir, President of the Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD) said Turkey received 5 awards the previous year and increased this number to 22 in 2019, which is a great achievement. Congratulating all the companies who took part in the competition and received awards, Sarıbekir mentioned that the rise of Turkish packaging industry in the global area continues.
He stated that Turkish packaging industry is taking decisive steps on the way to become the packaging center of Eurasia and continues its stable growth by focusing on value added production, and awards from competitions such as this one reinforce the perception of Turkish packaging industry on the global scale.
Addressing the Crescents and Stars of Packaging competition which was held for the eighth time last year, he highlighted that it is the only Packaging Competition in Turkey that has competence and validity in the international arena. Stating that they initiated this competition to provide competitive strength to brand owners, designers and packaging manufacturers in the international markets, he said that the winners are able to take part in WorldStar and AsiaStar competitions held by World Packaging Organization and Asia Packaging Federation.

Packaging sector in Türkiye exported 3 billion 322 million dollars in the first 6 months of 2024. While the volume of exports increased by 7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, the sector had a foreign trade surplus of 1 billion 152 million dollars.
