WPO Accomplished 2019 Packaging Technology Training Mission

World Packaging Organisation (WPO) accomplished the WPO's 2019 training agenda on Packaging Technology amongst the WPO member organisations. The purpose of those training courses is to increase and develop professional knowledge and competency of packaging industries´ employees, other professionals in related industries and also university students.

The first three WPO's 2019 packaging training programs had been organized in

Amman / Jordan in March,
Nairobi / Kenya in end July & early August,
Beirut / Lebanon in September respectively.

The 4 ^th WPO packaging technology training titled as "ABRE & WPO-Packaging Technology & 6 Sigma Training” was organized in Sao Paolo / Brazil on 1 – 3 October 2019 by the contribution of the WPO full member ABRE Brazilian Packaging Association. The training was performed in Portuguese with interpreter. Total 40 students attended the training in Sao Paolo.

The 5 ^th packaging training agenda this year was performed in Iran in two different cities, Tehran and Shiraz, on 12 – 18 October 2019, with IRIP Iranian Institute of Packaging. The training format was One-Day Seminars on Packaging Technology and Industry. Training performed in English with interpreter. Total 230 students were trained.

The 6 ^th and final packaging training course offered by WPO and supported by the IPF Indonesian Packaging Federation in Bali, Indonesia from 30 October – 2 November, 2019, is the first time in Bali. The course was entitled Master Class Global Packaging Technology and attended by 18 participants from the leading packaging companies in Lebanon. It was reported that the training was very successful and highly interactive.

WPO accomplished 2019 Packaging Technology training mission. The approved programs for 2020 will be took place in the following countries: Pakistan, Ghana, Kenya, China, Lebanon/Jordan, Indonesia/Bolivia, Egypt and Morocco.

Some new education initiatives are being discussed and planned in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central & South Americas and the Middle East.

The future potential training programs will be:

Food Packaging Technology,
Advanced Packaging Technology
Packaging Graphics & Design,
Quality Management Subjects.

9 Awards for Türkiye from AsiaStar

The results of the AsiaStar 2023 Competition, where Asia's best packaging competed, have been announced. Türkiye won a total of 9 awards in AsiaStar 2023, where 109 packages from 7 countries competed.

World Design Organization (WDO)® held a vote for the ninth and final position on its 2023-2025 Board of Directors.

1st Study Visit of DEEP Project held in Belgium and the Netherlands!

The scope of the “Technical Assistance for Assessment of Türkiye's Potential on Transition to Circular Economy” (DEEP) Project that prepares the roadmap for Türkiye's transition to a circular economy; the first study visit was held in the Netherlands and Belgium between 28 November and 2 December 2022 to exchange information on ongoing activities and practices related to the circular economy in the context of resource and waste management in EU countries.

WPO Announces the Winners of WorldStar 2022 in Milan

After two years of online ceremonies, May 4 2022, around 300 packaging professionals, representing 37countries, were together to celebrate the winners of WorldStar Award 2022.

APF's 2022 Strategic Planning Meeting Performed Online

The 7th APF Asian Packaging Federation's Strategic Planning Meeting was performed via Zoom Application on 18th April 2022. There were attendees in total from 11 countries in Asia continent, namely: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey.

18 Awards to Turkey in AsiaStar

Winners of the AsiaStar 2021 Competition where the best packaging in Asia compete are announced. In AsiaStar 2021 where 132 packaging from 14 countries compete, Turkey won a total of 18 awards.

ASD Packaging Academy Continues Training Online

The 2020 training program organized by the ASD Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association under the brand of ASD Packaging Academy was completed with six trainings. ASD Packaging Academy continues its 2021 training online. ASD Packaging Academy continues its 2021 training program on online platforms. “Covid-19 Precautions Training for the Packaging Industry”, was given by Occupational Physician and Pandemic Consultant Dr. İsmail Hakkı Serin on January 27th, 2021, in cooperation with Özden OSGB (Joint Health and Safety Unit).

APF President Attended Two Global Webinars

ProPak Connect hosted a number of live free-to-attend sessions featuring international speakers in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), Department of Science Service (Thailand), Kasetsart University, and Thailand Institute of Science and Technology Research, along leading packaging industry experts.

World Design Challenge on Sustainable Packaging Attracts

The Sustainable Packaging Design Challenge, a collaboration between WPO and WDO launched in April of this year, culminated in a series of final presentations from 7 teams on Friday, 4 June. The project regrouped 11 facilitators, seven thought leaders, 76 participants and 28 student participants from 32 countries.
