Packaging Design International Student Competition
Organized by ASD - Packaging Manufacturers Association in Turkey in collaboration with TUYAP, the organizer of Istanbul Packaging Fair

One of the three basic aims of WPO - World Packaging Organisation, of which we are an active member, is to encourage packaging education and training. In that scope, packaging design international student contest is organised in order to raise packaging awareness among the students who are being educated in the related disciplines. The competition called Student World Star which held for the second time last year and according to the decision of World Packaging Organisation Board of Directors, jury and awarding organisation of the second contest in 2006 and the third contest in 2007 shall be performed by the Packaging Manufacturers Association in cooperation with TUYAP International Packaging Industry Exhibition in Istanbul.
Student World Star competition aims to establish a global platform where students from all over the world may compete globally to present their new packaging designs for the protection, presentation and delivery of products.
Moreover, it is aimed to raise awareness of designers and designer candidates about packaging design, to establish an interface between industry and designers as well as industry and universities, and above all to ensure "a better quality of life with better packaging".
The competition which has three main categories as consumer packaging, transport packaging and industrial packaging accepted entries from students who have been receiving higher level design education and who have been ranked one of the top three in a contest where their status are approved by national packaging organisation.
The contest deadline is September 13th 2007 and the jury will sit between September 15th and 16th in Istanbul. 3 of the six jury members will be appointed by WPO while the remaining three will be representatives from ETMK - Industrial Designers Professional Organisation in Turkey, GMK - Turkish Society of Graphic Design and an Industrial Design Department of a reputable University in Turkey.
The competition will not be delivering material awards and the award distribution and celebrations will take place on October 17th 2007 in International Packaging Industry Exhibition in Istanbul. The competition entries and successful designs shall be widely reflected to the media by the organization through announcements, printed catalogues and exhibitions. This competition that will hold a large place in the national and international press, sponsors will be allowed to give special awards to successful participants.
